Tippecanoe Man Sentenced for Killing New Philadelphia Man During Lawn Confrontation
CADIZ (WTUZ) (Sept. 24, 2026) – A Harrison County man has been sentenced to 24 years to life in prison for fatally shooting a New Philadelphia man during a dispute over a tanker truck driving onto the edge of his lawn.
63-year-old Mickey Green of Tippecanoe was convicted earlier this month of two counts of murder, along with felonious assault and discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises.
The shooting happened April 5, 2025, near Green’s property at Norris and Moravian Trail roads. Authorities say 50-year-old Steven Andrews was driving a tanker truck through the intersection when Green yelled at him for driving onto the edge of his lawn.
Andrews stopped the truck, got out and walked toward Green. Green then pulled a handgun and shot the unarmed Andrews in the head.
Green claimed self-defense at trial, but the jury rejected that argument and found him guilty.
If released from prison, Green will be required to register as a violent offender.
