Trick-or-treaters skate for free during ice rink preview party
DENNISON (WJER) (Oct. 30, 2023) – The community is getting a sneak peek at the new outdoor ice rink downtown before it opens for the season.
Mayor Greg DiDonato says trick-or-treaters will get to skate for free during the two-hour preview party the village is hosting Tuesday evening.
“It’ll give a chance for people to come and look at it, understand it. Kids in costumes will be able to go out. It won’t be a long period because we expect a nice size crowd but they’ll get a chance to put some skates on and skate in their costumes for 15 or 20 minutes.”
Trick-or-treating in the Twin Cities is Tuesday/tonight from 5:30 to 7. The preview party goes from 7 to 9, also with free hot dogs, pizza, donuts, and hot cocoa.
“And then Timmy’s Cafe is going to be here with his coffee cart doing special coffee. That’s the only thing that there would be a charge for. Other than that, everything else will be handed out freely until it runs out.”
A panel of judges will pick the skater with the best costume and give them a season pass to the rink that’s scheduled to make its official debut the Friday after Thanksgiving.
