Truck loses load on I-77
NEW PHILADELPHIA – The State Highway Patrol cited a truck driver after he lost his load and backed up traffic for about two hours on I-77 North in New Philadelphia midday Wednesday.
Commander Lt. Bryan Sponaugle says at around 10:30 a.m., a truck hauling a large roll-off container started having problems about a third of a mile north of the state Route 39-U.S. 250 exit. The driver began swerving and sideswiped another commercial vehicle. Then the container rolled off the back of the truck.
Sponaugle says two vehicles were damaged, and no one was hurt. He says it took about two hours to get I-77 moving again after ODOT cleared the road.
Sponaugle says the trucking company sent one of its own vehicles to come pick up the roll-off contain. The driver of the truck that lost its load was cited for failure to control.
