NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (June 19, 2025) – Trumpet in the Land is preparing to open for its 56th season at Schoenbrunn Amphitheatre on Friday, with a special tribute.
The show retells the story of Ohio’s first settlement, Schoenbrunn, the massacre at Gnadenhutten, and the battle between the Americas.
General Manager Margaret Bonamico says opening day will include a dedication at 8:15 p.m. to her brother Joe Bonamico, a longtime performer and director who passed away in September.
Joe Bonamico played the role of Simon Girty for 37 years.
Friday’s performance then begins at 8:30 p.m.
