Tuesday fire guts two-story brick building in downtown Newcomerstown

NEWCOMERSTOWN (WJER) (Mar. 12, 2025) – Firefighters from numerous departments spent much of the afternoon and evening at the site of a large blaze in the downtown area of the village Tuesday.
No injuries were reported.
The fire, called in at 2:35 p.m., gutted a two-story commercial / apartment brick building at 110 South Bridge Street, across from the library.
Newcomerstown firefighters say it was first reported as an auto fire inside a garage which was soon determined to have spread.
Heavy flames forced firefighters to battle from outside while trying to protect other nearby buildings – some of which did end up with smoke and water damage.
Firefighters cleared the scene around 10 p.m., however some continued to monitor for any rekindles overnight.
