Tusc Chamber announces latest awards winners
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Jan. 6, 2024) – Two businesses, a non-profit, and five individuals are being recognized for their contributions to the community.
The Tuscarawas County Chamber of Commerce recently announced its latest award recipients, who will be honored on January 29th during a ceremony at Performing Arts Center. Chamber President Scott Robinson looks forward to showcasing and celebrating the honorees, including this year’s Hall of Fame Award recipients – Dover Hydraulics founders Bob and Trudy Sensel.
“They provide jobs for over 100 people; they have a great facility; they have employees that have been with them for long periods of time; and they’ve been active with the chamber both in-person and also with their sponsorship capabilities.”
Extreme Trailers in Dover is the Large Business of the Year with over a hundred employees producing more than 1,300 custom aluminum trailers annually.
“That’s not where it stops. They’re making plans for growth in the future, and they’re hoping to double their production and workforce in the coming years, so a very up-and-coming company.”
The Small Business of the Year is Geib Funeral Homes and Crematory.
“They’ve been around for over 175 years. Obviously, they have a very specialized service. They provide compassionate care to families throughout the year, and over the years I believe their total is more than 20,000 families that they have served, so that is quite a record of service.”
Individual award winners include retired longtime Tuscarawas County commissioner as Citizen of the Year and Buckeye Career Center’s Debbie Ganyard.
“Her nomination said she has a unique ability to see the potential in every student and works tirelessly to help them discover and develop their gifts, so it sounds like she is certainly a deserving recipient of our Educator of the Year award.”
The Tuscarawas County Senior Center is the chamber’s Organization of the Year, and the final award for Volunteer of the Year goes to Theresa Mattox of Huntington Bank.
