Tuscarawas County Health Department highlights services during National Public Health Week

| April 7, 2026

DOVER (WJER) (April 7, 2026) – The Tuscarawas County Health Department is marking National Public Health Week by highlighting the work it does year‑round to protect and improve the health of county residents.

Spokeswoman Jennifer Demuth said public health plays a role in daily life, from ensuring drinking water is clean and food is safe, to providing vaccinations, education, and support services for families.

She said those efforts help prevent serious illness and improve overall quality of life across Tuscarawas County.

National Public Health Week also serves as an opportunity to recognize the public health workers who support families every day and to advocate for policies that promote good health for everyone.

During the week, the health department is also thanking county residents for their continued support, which helps make public health programs — and partnerships with local agencies — possible.

Meanwhile, the department is seeking community input as part of a tobacco‑use prevention grant. Officials hope to recruit at least 100 county residents to complete a short online survey.

Anyone who completes the survey shared on the Tuscarawas County Health Department’s Facebook page will be entered for a chance to win a $50 gas gift card.
