Tuscarawas County Health Department to Showcase $2.1M Renovation at Open House

| May 19, 2026

DOVER (WJER) (May 19, 2026)  — The Tuscarawas County Health Department will open its doors to the public today to highlight a $2.1 million, grant-funded renovation and expansion project at its East Iron Avenue facility.

The open house is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. and will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by guided tours of the updated building.

Spokeswoman Jennifer Demuth says construction began in March of last year and included a 2,200-square-foot expansion. Improvements also feature upgraded HVAC systems, enhanced traffic flow, and expanded ADA accessibility throughout the facility.

Visitors attending the event will have the opportunity to view newly redesigned spaces as well as artwork from more than 20 local artists, whose pieces are now displayed inside the building.

Demuth said the updated layout is designed to be more user-friendly, with clearer navigation and signage, including Spanish-language options, to better serve the community.

As part of Lyme Disease Awareness Month, the department will also provide free tick removal kits during the open house. One kit will be available per household while supplies last.
