Tuscarawas County Juvenile Court launches 5th Annual Art Scholarship Contest
NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio (WJER) (Feb. 9, 2026) — Tuscarawas County Juvenile Court Judge Adam Wilgus is once again inviting graduating seniors to showcase their creativity while competing for college scholarship money through his Fifth Annual Art Scholarship Contest.
The contest encourages students to submit original artwork that will both beautify the juvenile courtroom and highlight the talents of local youth. First- and second-place entries will be permanently displayed on the courtroom wall, with the top artist receiving a $500 scholarship and the runner-up earning $250.
Judge Wilgus said the artwork from previous contests has added a visual boost to the courtroom while also serving as a positive representation of area students to those who visit the court.
This year’s theme, “250 Years of American Freedom,” asks students to reflect on what it means to live in “the land of the free and the home of the brave.” Submissions may include a painting or drawing suitable for wall display, along with a completed application and a brief written explanation of the artwork.
Applications and contest forms are available in the forms section of the Tuscarawas County Juvenile Court website. All entries must be submitted to the court by March 20.
