Tuscarawas River Canoe and Kayak Race returns Saturday
DOVER (WJER) (July 12, 2024) – Tuscarawas River Canoe and Kayak Race planners are encouraging paddlers to come enjoy the water with them this weekend.
The 10th annual race is happening Saturday morning, starting and finishing near Canal Dover Park. Director Mary Jo Monte-Kaser says the 10-mile race begins at 10 a.m.
“That is designed more for people who are actually paddling and training a little bit more,” she said.
The 3-mile race for recreational paddlers will then begin about 10-15 minutes later.
“We’re focusing in on that race so people can maybe grab their kayak or their canoe that’s sitting in the garage and bring it out and have a little bit of fun with us on the river,” Monte-Kaser said. “If you’re reasonably in shape, you can do three miles.”
Registration opens at 8 a.m. The cost is $25 for adults and $15 for kids under 18, which includes a T-shirt. Medals will be presented to the top finishers in the numerous categories and refreshments will be served after the races.
“It looks like it’s going to be beautiful weather,” she added.
Forms are at the Tuscarawas River Canoe and Kayak Race Facebook Page or HERE.
