Tuscarawas Valley Film Festival returning through September

| September 7, 2023

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Sept. 7, 2023) – A local celebration of independent films is getting underway for another year.

The Quaker Cinema has its 6th annual Tuscarawas Valley Film Festival with double features each Thursday in September beginning this week. Owner Mike Ernest says it’s an opportunity to present some original story-telling and alternatives to the big blockbusters.

The first movie tonight is the baseball documentary The League, at 6:30 p.m.  That’ll be followed about 90 minutes later by the comedy Mafia Mamma.

Ernest says Hoodletown Brewing and Park Street Pizza will again be set up outside the theater for the festival during move nights, starting at 5:30 pm.

Tickets are $10 dollars per night for two films or $30 for all four nights this month.

The proceeds again benefit the local Big Brothers Big Sisters organization.
