Tuscora Park historical marker unveiling delayed

| May 31, 2024

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (May 31, 2024) – The unveiling of the historic marker for Tuscora Park has been postponed again. It had been scheduled for this past Sunday and then again for this Sunday, June 2. Carey Gardner with the Rotary Club of New Philadelphia says they are delaying the event until Sam Hitchcock is well enough to attend.

Hitchcock is the Rotarian who led the effort to obtain historic site status for Tuscora Park. He was injured a little over a week ago in a fall while setting up for the Canal Dover Festival. Family updates on social media say he is improving every day, and they ask for continued prayers.

The dedication of the new kiddy Ferris wheel will go on as planned on Sunday, June 2, at 6:45 p.m. That will be followed at 7 p.m. by the summer showcase performance by the Dover High School jazz and steel drum bands.
