Tusky Valley sweeps the All-County Cross Country Championships
GNADENHUTTEN (WJER) (September 28, 2022) – In cross country, Tusky Valley is No. 1 in Tuscarawas County at all levels. The Trojans yesterday won all the All-County Cross Country championships at Indian Valley High School – both boys and girls and high school and middle school.
On the boys’ side, it was a close race with Tusky Valley edging runner-up Dover and third-place Indian Valley thanks to five Trojans finishing in the top 13, led by Jake Kapper’s third-place finish. High School Boys T. Co. XC
Indian Valley’s Xander Heil placed first in 16:46, followed by Dover’s Luke Jones in 17:01. Rounding out the top five were Indian Valley’s Joe Carlisle in fourth and New Philadelphia’s Patrick Morris in fifth.
On the girls’ side, Tusky Valley placed first, three points ahead of Garaway. Dover was third. High School Girls T. Co. XC
The Trojans won because all seven of their runners finished in the top 20, led by third-place winner Trista Lieser. Garaway was paced by Meghan Schwartz’s fifth-place finish. For Dover, Sydney Stevenson was fourth.
The winner of the girls’ race was New Philadelphia senior Cambri Mushrush in 20:14. Strasburg’s Kylie Mckenzie finished second, just 15 seconds back.
Tusky Valley also won the boys and girls middle school races.

The race is put on by the Tuscarawas County Cross Country Coaches Association which is a group of all the head cross country coaches in the county. The goal of the group is to raise funds for a scholarship program that benefits high school runners from the county who attend college.
