U.S. 250 resurfacing project to begin Monday
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (March, 10. 2026) — A seven‑month project to resurface U.S. Route 250 from the Interstate 77 interchange to the Schoenbrunn exit is set to begin Monday, with one lane of traffic maintained in each direction throughout construction.
ODOT District 11 spokesperson Lauren Borell said crews will start prep work along the five‑mile stretch, which will involve more than just new pavement.
“This is for a resurfacing project that covers about five miles, and the work is pretty in‑depth as there’s other work associated with it,” Borell said. “They will be doing guardrail work to start off the project and then pavement repairs, which include concrete joint repair work.”
Drivers should expect reduced speed limits in the work zone during daytime hours. Borell urged motorists to plan for extra travel time and use caution.
“Watch for signs for the lower speed limit and give yourself plenty of travel time, especially if you’re traveling through this area during those high‑peak travel times in the morning and afternoon so that you reach your destination safely,” she said.
One lane will remain open in each direction for the duration of the project. Borell emphasized the importance of slowing down and staying alert to protect workers.
“They will be lowering the speed limit through there for the safety of those working in the work zone,” she said. “We want people to be mindful of that and slow down for those workers out there.”
The project is expected to continue through October. Borell said ODOT will open both lanes during holiday travel periods whenever possible to reduce congestion.
