Uhrichsville council seeking new at-large member
UHRICHSVILLE (WJER) (Sept. 5, 2024) – Residents wanting to participate in city government have until Monday to apply for an open council seat.
Council President Buck Cottrell says they’re looking for someone to replace Terry McFerrin, who resigned from his at-large seat at the end of the last council meeting to pursue other opportunities.
“We’re hoping to get everyone interviewed by the 11th. Our council meeting is the 12th but it might not be until the following [one in] two weeks, so we’re hoping to have everything done by the 26th.”
Applicants can reside anywhere in the city and don’t need to be associated with a certain political party. Cottrell has been on council since 2018 and finds it challenging but worthwhile.
“Sometimes it’s a struggle as we all know, but I’m in it just to make the city better.”
The opening is through the end of next year. Interested residents are asked to provide their resume and a letter of interest to Council Clerk Scherie Clough at city hall or by email at sclough@cityofuhrichsville.org.
