Uhrichsville native hired as city’s new service, safety director

UHRICHSVILLE (WJER) (April 30, 2024) – A recent Claymont grad is now part of the administrative team for his hometown.

Cade Watkins is in his third week as the city’s safety and service director. Mayor Jim Zucal picked Watkins for the part-time role paying just under $19,000 annually and introduced him to city council Thursday evening. 

“He’s a resident of our community, an outstanding young man, brings a lot to the table. I look forward to working with him and I know he looks forward to working with all of you.”

Watkins is a 2022 Claymont graduate and licensed realtor who has been studying business management at Kent Tusc.

“I really just want to thank Mayor Zucal, Amy Myers, and the members of council for giving me this opportunity. I was born and raised here and look forward to working with all of you to make a difference.”

Watkins stepped into role the Monday before last and has been driving around with Zucal checking out the projects on the city’s radar including cleaning up and selling the West Side Yard.
