Veterans Day marks opening day at Tuscarawas County Fair
DOVER (WJER) (Sept. 21, 2026) – Veterans Day kicks off Day One of the Tuscarawas County Fair today. Jim Thornton with the Tuscarawas County Veterans Service Office says that means free admission at the gate for anyone with a valid military I.D. Thornton says his staff will also be set up under the grandstands, offering information to veterans throughout the day. Thornton says veterans who stop by the booth under the grandstand will receive a voucher for a free meal — and this year, that benefit now extends to their spouse. Today’s schedule includes the Junior Fair Market Poultry Show at 4 p.m., the Junior Fair Lamb and Sheep Shows at 4:30, and the Junior Fair Market Goat Show at 6:30. Rides open at 5 p.m. today at the fair. Tonight’s free grandstand event – motocross – gets underway at 7.
