Voters to select congressional nominees for special and general elections
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (March 18, 2024) – Democrats and Republicans Tuesday will be choosing their respective candidates for the races to replace former 6th District Congressman Bill Johnson for the rest of this year and separately for the next two years.
The three Republicans are State Senator Michael Rulli, State Representative Reggie Stoltzfus, and chiropractor Dr. Rick Tsai.
The Democrats are small business owner Rylan Finzer and cook Michael Kripchak.
The candidates’ names all appear twice on the ballot.
The winners of one primary will advance to the special election in June to serve the remainder of Johnson’s unexpired term. The winners of the second primary will face off in the November general election for the seat’s 2025-26 term.
