NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio (WJER) (April 7, 2026) — A West Lafayette man was killed and three other people were injured Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on Stonecreek Road north of Circle Drive in York Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s New Philadelphia Post.

Troopers say the crash happened shortly after 1 p.m. when a southbound 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis went left of center and struck a northbound 2012 Toyota Highlander head-on near New Philadelphia.

The driver of the Mercury, identified as 24-year-old Dalton J. Miller of West Lafayette, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 21-year-old passenger in Miller’s vehicle, also from West Lafayette, was transported to a Canton hospital. Troopers reported that both occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Following the collision, the Toyota Highlander struck a guardrail. The SUV was driven by a 33-year-old woman from New Philadelphia, who was taken to a hospital in Akron for treatment. Her 2-year-old son, who was a passenger in the SUV, was treated at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
