TUFF Bags program sending weekend meals home for another school year
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Aug. 28, 2025) – The TUFF Bags program is back sending weekend meals home with food insecure children in Tuscarawas County with another school year getting underway.
Coordinator Lisa Walker says they start each new academic year by sending enrollment forms home with all the students at partnering schools.
Walker says the students in the program remain anonymous – she only knows how many meal bags to provide for each building.
TUFF Bags delivered just over 80,000 meal bags last school year. The program continued over the summer months, offering 13 bag pickup locations throughout the county.
