NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Feb. 11, 2022) – The Dover Exchange Club is offering those planning to host Super Bowl gatherings an alternative to pizza and wings.

Members will be selling bbq chicken dinners for $10 each ahead of the big game and donating the proceeds to the Noah’s Hope Child Advocacy Center. President Kevin Korns says they will be available from 11 to 4 at Funday’s on the Boulevard and include a half chicken, two sides, and a dessert.

“We ask for pre-sale tickets to pick up before 3 o’clock. If it’s after 3, they can still pick up there with their tickets but we’re just trying to get the majority of the tickets in by 3 so we know where we stand,” he says. “We also have drive-up, so if you don’t have a pre-sale ticket you can drive up and pay for ‘em right then.”

The center provides trauma-focused services to abused children and their families from its headquarters on East High Avenue in New Philadelphia. Korns says supporting organizations working to combat domestic abuse is part of a national Exchange Club Initiative.

“I think over the past years roughly we’ve given over $36,000 for them from the barbeques that we’ve held. They always use it to help upgrade their interview technologies and different things. I know they always put the money to good use.”

Korns says the club has been holding these benefit chicken barbeques on Super Bowl Sunday for about six years now. They had to skip the last one because of the COVID threat but still donated the 65-hundred dollars it would have raised to the center.
