NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Feb. 23, 2026) – Tuscarawas County deputies have responded to a couple rather different incidents in recent days in which suspected alcohol-fueled behavior led to costly consequences.

Early this morning, officers were called to a home in the 4000 block of West State Street in Midvale, where a 32-year-old man was reportedly using a firearm while intoxicated; no injuries or property damage were reported, and the man was taken to the county jail on a weapons-while-intoxicated charge.

Meanwhile, on Friday night in Port Washington, a 35-year-old man suffered significant injuries after crashing his dirt bike into a dumpster while attempting a wheelie in the 2700 block of Maple Leaf Drive Southwest. Deputies believe alcohol was a factor and say others at the scene were uncooperative. The rider was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
