TAP director urges Ohio lawmakers to crack down on deceptive ticket resales

| March 26, 2026

TAP Director Wilma Mullet testifies before the Ohio House Technology and Innovation Committee, in a hearing broadcast by The Ohio Channel.

COLUMBUS, OHIO (WJER) (March 26, 2026)  – The director of a local nonprofit that celebrates and supports art in Tuscarawas County advocated for tougher laws for third-party ticket sellers at the state Capitol this week.

Tuscarawas Arts Partnership (TAP) Director Wilma Mullet spoke before the Ohio House Technology and Innovation Committee in favor of House Bill 563, aimed at eliminating deceptive practices by companies that buy tickets from venues then resell them, often at higher prices with added fees.

Mullet says those practices are hurting local venues including the Little Theatre, KSU Tusc Performing Arts Center and Ohio Star Theatre.

Mullet says House Bill 563 would increase transparency, limit deceptive practices, and hold third-party sellers accountable.

The bill requires passage by the Ohio House and Senate before the governor can sign it into law.
