Community Invited to Tour New Jack’s House of Hope
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (April 13, 2026) — The community is invited to tour the new Jack’s House of Hope during an open house and ribbon cutting scheduled for Thursday, April 23.
Construction is wrapping up on the 20,000‑square‑foot shelter, according to Friends of the Homeless Director Calvin White, who says anticipation is building as the long‑planned project nears completion.
The new facility includes 14 sleeping rooms for men, 13 for women, along with several rooms designed to accommodate families or couples. Additional features include a chapel and an outdoor courtyard, expanding both capacity and services for those in need.
The open house will run from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at 214 Ashwood Lane NE, located just behind the current Friends of the Homeless shelter. Visitors are asked to enter through House of Hope’s main entrance, which is next to the rear entrance of New Philadelphia Presbyterian Church.
A ribbon‑cutting ceremony is scheduled for 5:15 p.m.
White says the project is the result of years of planning and strong community support. While construction is nearing completion, Friends of the Homeless is still accepting donations to help cover remaining construction and furnishing costs for the $5.5 million project.
Donations can be made online at fothtusc.org.
