Volunteers pitch in across the valley for United Way’s Day of Caring
Teams from local organizations helped with spring cleanup and other projects at nonprofit sites Wednesday.
TUSCARAWAS COUNTY (WJER) (April 23, 2026) – Teams of volunteers spent Wednesday helping spruce up the valley as part of United Way’s annual Day of Caring.
Projects ranged from outdoor cleanup to support work at area nonprofits, with volunteers assigned to sites across the community.
Dover Public Library
At the Dover Public Library, employees from First Federal Community Bank spent the morning mulching, weeding and tackling spring cleanup projects.
Among them was Scott Heil, who said giving back is an important part of staying connected to the community.
First Federal Community Bank’s Kris Kreinbihl said the bank has supported Day of Caring projects for several years, including efforts like Blessings in a Backpack and TUFF Bags.
He added that he enjoyed the chance to work outside in the nice weather.
Also lending a hand at the library was T4C Director Leslie Booth, taking part in Day of Caring for the first time.
Schoenbrunn Village
At Schoenbrunn Village, a volunteer team from Advocates for Success cleaned up fallen branches and limbs left behind from the offseason.
Site Superintendent Tanner Immel said the extra help makes a noticeable difference as the historic village prepares for the season, and he appreciated the volunteers willingness to pitch in.
More projects across the area
Other Day of Caring projects included work at the Norma Johnson Center, Blessings in a Backpack, the Dennison Depot, the Reeves Museum, and additional nonprofit sites throughout the area, including the Salvation Army and Zoar Gardens.
