Dennison Hears Concerns Over Kids’ Risky E-Scooter Riding

| June 22, 2026

DENNISON (WJER) (June 22, 2026) – Dennison is the latest municipality to field complaints about kids riding dangerously on e-scooters and bikes.

Communities across the state have been debating and implementing new laws to regulate the form of transportation that is growing in popularity among young people.

In Dennison, village council heard from a concerned citizen at a recent meeting. Council members also recounted instances when they have almost struck riders who ignored basic road and sidewalk rules.

Police Chief Todd Beeman says officers on every shift, daytime and nighttime, have stopped young people riding e-scooters.

Mayor Greg DiDonato says the village’s limited police force cannot constantly patrol the streets to look out for e-vehicle violations. He says parents need to educate their kids on how to ride bikes and e-scooters on the roads.

The department is working on creating an educational program while council reviews stronger local laws.
