Tressel Brings Fitness Challenge Message to New Philadelphia Students
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Sept. 16, 2026) – Former Ohio State head football coach — and current Ohio lieutenant governor — Jim Tressel stopped by New Philadelphia’s West Elementary on Tuesday to fire up students about his Team Tressel Fitness Challenge, aimed at kids in grades 3 through 8.
Tressel says the program focuses not just on exercise, but on nutrition and healthy habits.
Tressel was joined by former West Elementary student and Quaker Cie Grant, who played on his 2002 national championship team.
The Team Tressel Fitness Challenge also promotes goal‑setting, mental wellness and gratitude for young people across Ohio.
