Civil War Round Table to Present Program on Civil War Artifacts
The event
The Tuscarawas Valley Civil War Round Table will meet on Thursday, October 8 at 6:00 PM in the Community Room of the Dover Public Library, located at 525 N. Walnut Street in Dover. The featured presenter will be Civil War collector and historian Rich West, who will present The Guns of the 7th Cavalry. This presentation, which will be interactive with the audience, will cover the early development and distribution of the new Model 1873 Colt revolvers and carbines, their distribution to the Western frontier and their use in the Battle of Little Bighorn in 1876. Civil War collectibles and artifacts will also be on display.
Rich West, who is related to the last living Civil War veteran in Tuscarawas County, inherited several pieces of Civil War artifacts which launched a nearly fifty-year quest to understand and preserve the Civil War. From reenacting, to living history programs, to collecting trips and artifact presentations, West has a personal and professional mission to preserve the past and to educate those intrigued by the American Civil War.
The mission of the Tuscarawas Valley Civil War Round Table is to educate the community about the American Civil War, to preserve Civil War heritage and to remember those who struggled for their cause.
