41st-annual Fall Festival opens Friday at Atwood Lake

| October 5, 2023

MINERAL CITY (WJER) (Oct. 5, 2023) – The changing foliage won’t be the only thing driving people to Atwood Lake over the next few days.

The park’s yearly fall festival kicks/kicked off Friday/this morning and runs through Sunday. There’s a schedule on the Atwood Area Fall Festival Facebook page for all three days of the event that organizing committee member Daryl Smith says has something for everybody.

“We have entertainment for children, entertainment for adults, lots of food, crafts. We have a pow-wow going on from the Three Sisters Tribal Pow-Wow Association, bounce houses for the children, a petting zoo, and just lots of food and fun for everybody.”

The festival opens each morning at 10, closing at 9 o’clock the next two nights and at 5 on Sunday. Smith says it’s the 41st year for the event and draws thousands of visitors to the lakeside park each October.

“It’s just a very laid-back atmosphere. Everybody’s nice and the food is all good. We’ve got some of the best food you can find, let’s face it. It’s just the big thing for this area and it’s just a good time. Everybody likes it.”

Admission to the Atwood Area Fall Festival is $5 anyone 12 or older. Senior citizens and military veterans who visit Friday pay $3 dollars, and younger get in for free.
