Adam Fisher appointed to Tusky Valley school board

ZOARVILLE (Feb. 13, 2025) – A familiar name when it comes to criminal investigations is filling a vacancy on the Tusky Valley Board of Education.
Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Captain Detective Adam Fisher is taking over the seat that became vacant when Katy Johnson resigned in December. Board Vice-President Sally Green says Fisher was one of 13 candidates who applied.
“We had wonderful candidates, so I want to thank all those who came in and put their names for it. We appreciate that. Obviously, we chose Adam today to serve and we’re very grateful for what he can bring to the table, and I welcome you.”
Fisher says he worked closely in the past on safety training with all of the area schools, but particularly Tusky Valley.
“Over those years of just building close relationships and seeing the needs of the school community, when the vacancy came up there were some conversations that happened. I just felt with the expertise that I have and the things I do [at the sheriff’s office] really relate well to school.”
Fisher says his job gives him expertise beneficial to the school board, such as responding to individuals suffering from mental health issues.
“It’s a big thing that our community is experiencing lately, so I think all the way around if we can do any of those interventions – whether they’re safety, they’re security, those conversations we can have with individuals suffering from mental health issues and we can make those connections – I think all the way around we are more safe and secure.”
Fisher is filling Johnson’s unexpired term that runs through the end of this year. He plans to run for re-election in November.
