African Children’s Choir to perform at Tusky Valley

ZOARVILLE (WJER) (Oct. 28, 2024) – An international singing sensation is making a tour stop in the area Tuesday evening.
The African Children’s Choir is bringing its blend of lively drumming, dancing, and traditional Christian hymns to the Tusky Valley Performing Arts Center. Tina Sipp manages the group that features 17 vocalists from Uganda between 8 and 10 years old.
“The children have a lot of energy that they pour out from the stage. There’s three different costumes – beautiful, traditional dance costumes – the African drums. So there’s some culture that comes off of the stage, smiles, and again just this energy. We’ve heard more than once, ‘If you could just bottle that energy.’”
The 6:30 pm show is free to attend but donations will be accepted for the choir’s parent organization: Music for Life.
“Any child that’s in our choir, their education is guaranteed through the university level but also, all the money that’s raised from our tours actually goes back to help hundreds of other children be able to get an education with the hope that we can help many, many children help break the cycle of poverty that their families are in.”
The visit is part of the group’s ‘As I Am” tour across the U.S. and comes ahead of the one-year anniversary of last November’s Tusky Valley charter bus tragedy.
“The children have a way of bringing healing through their music, too. I hope that we leave a ripple effect that is very positive in the community.”
Reserve seating for Tuesday’s African Children’s Choir performance is available through a link on the Tusky Valley Trojans Facebook page.
