Appointments still available for United Way’s free tax preparation clinics
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (April 1, 2022) – It’s not too late to take advantage of the free tax preparation services being offered by the United Way of Tuscarawas County.
Community Relations Coordinator Susan Reidenbach says their volunteer income tax preparers have three more clinics this coming Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at the Dover-Phila Federal Credit Union on Fillmore Avenue in Dover, and all still have appointments available.
“What’s nice is it’s a drop-off situation so we can do six appointments every half hour, and then we arrange that you pick up your completed taxes later here at the United Way building.”
Reidenbach says individual filers who earned $60,000 or less in 2021 and joint filers who made up to $90,000 qualify to have both their state and federal returns filed through the program.
“That is a large, large percentage of Tuscarawas County, and we’ve heard stories of taxpayers being charged over $200, $300 to have their taxes prepared that we’re able to do for free, so it’s nice for a taxpayer to not have to hand out the extra money to have this done.”
Appointments can be scheduled online at tuscunitedway.org or by calling 211. Reidenbach says they’re hoping to file between 1,100 and 1,200 returns through the program this tax season and are already approaching that goal with those three clinics still remaining.
