Big Brothers Big Big Sisters of East Central Ohio will soon move into this space, the former FYE store, at New Towne Mall.

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (June 9, 2023)  – Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Central Ohio is about to be on the move.

President and Ceo Beverly Pearch says the agency will be leaving its current site at the Monroe Centre in New Philadelphia and relocating into the old FYE store at New Towne Mall to accommodate more staffing, starting August 1st.

“We’re very excited about the move,” said Pearch. “Mainly just because of the foot traffic that we’re going to be able to see coming in and out of the office with being so visible there at New Towne Mall.”

“With the expansion that we have seen with the children served, that means we have needed to add more staff members,” she said.

Pearch says the new space offers about 1,000 more square feet.

“Plenty of offices for continued growth within the organization through the upcoming years,” she added.

Meanwhile, Pearch says the local organization will be stepping up its social media presence in recruiting “Bigs” to serve as mentors for children who could use a positive influence in their lives.

She says they already put a “waiting Little” post out every Wednesday profiling a different kid each time.

“We describe a child that is on our waiting list in hopes that we could find somebody in the community that will read that or share it with somebody that they think might be a great mentor for those kids,” she said.

Pearch says they’ll go above and beyond that in July with a big recruitment campaign on social media called ‘Match Madness’ with a goal of getting 15 kids off their waiting list.  She says stay tuned for details.
