NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Jan. 14, 2022) – The city’s fire inspector has confirmed the discovery of an elderly woman’s body was inside a home they condemned recently. Jim Scholtz couldn’t provide details because of patient privacy protections but told WJER the woman died from natural causes and wasn’t discovered under a pile of trash as rumors swirling on social media have suggested. He wasn’t there when the house was condemned so he could not comment on the conditions firefighters encountered.
