Buckeye students qualify for state competition

The qualifying students will compete at the HOSA State leadership Conference in Columbus on March 24th and 25th. (Buckeye Career Center)

NEW PHILADELPHIA (Jan. 28, 2022) – A number of Buckeye Career Center students are advancing to the Ohio HOSA Future Health Professionals State leadership Conference in March following success at regionals.

First place recipients include Colette Brown (Exercise Science/Conotton Valley) in Nutrition; Hannah Thomas (Medical Assisting/Indian Valley) in Medical Spelling; Myra Davis (Intro to Nursing/Carrollton) in Medical Terminology; Austin Gump (Exercise Science/Dover) in Interviewing Skills; the team of Haley Gump (Intro to Nursing/New Phila), Annabelle Lipinski (Intro to Nursing/New Phila), Kanzis Robin (Intro to Nursing/Dover), and Ryder Rothel (Intro to Nursing/Garaway) in HOSA Bowl; the team of Brynnle Hill (Intro to Nursing/New Phila) and Kaylee Taralla (Intro to Nursing/New Phila) in Community Awareness; Caitlynn Long (Intro to Nursing/Indian Valley) in Clinical Nursing; and Chloe Stuber (Exercise Science/Conotton Valley) in Behavioral Health.

Second place recipients include Jordyn Braun (Exercise Science/Conotton Valley) in Researched Persuasive Writing and Speaking; Samantha Masters (Intro to Nursing/New Phila) in Medical Math; Erika Kugler (Exercise Science/New Phila)  in Life Support Skills; Cameron Sica (Exercise Science/Dover) in Interviewing Skills; Makaylyn Lendon (Exercise Science/Indian Valley) in Health Career Photography; the team of Jenna Hykes (Intro to Nursing/Tusky Valley) and Gabrielle Kellar (Intro to Nursing/Claymont) in Health Career Display; Cassidy Green (TCC/Exercise Science) in Extemporaneous Writing; and Adam Walker (Exercise Science/Conotton Valley) in Epidemiology.

Fourth place recipients include Rachel Stevenson (BCC/Medical Assisting) in Medical Spelling and Lexi Lute (Medical Assisting/Indian Valley) in Medical Terminology.

Regionals were held Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Massillon Perry High School. These students will compete at the HOSA State leadership Conference in Columbus on March 24 and 25, 2022.
