Buckeye Train Draws Crowds to Dennison for Ohio Transportation Celebration

| April 27, 2026

DENNISON, Ohio (April 27, 2026) — The Buckeye Train rolled into Dennison this weekend, bringing with it a celebration of Ohio’s rich transportation history—and some high-profile passengers.
The event drew strong crowds as the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum marked the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary. Museum leaders and rail partners used the occasion to highlight Ohio’s longstanding role in moving both people and freight across the region and beyond.
The transportation-themed weekend featured excursions aboard the Buckeye Train, vintage aircraft flyovers, a classic vehicle show, and historical reenactors. Organizers said the goal was not only to showcase local history, but also to emphasize how rail travel continues to connect communities throughout the state.
Depot Director Wendy Zucal credited volunteers and community partners for helping bring the two-day celebration together.
Among those in attendance were Mike DeWine and Fran DeWine, who stepped off Sunday’s excursion train at the depot. Dennison Mayor Greg DiDonato said the event brought both energy and visitors to the village.
Zucal said she was pleased with the turnout and noted that more excursions are planned throughout the year. Upcoming events include trips tied to the Newark Strawberry Festival, “Victory on the Homefront,” and a train film festival.
Additional details and ticket information are available on the depot’s website.
