NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (January 27, 2022) – The Tuscarawas County Chamber of Commerce is honoring its 2021 annual award recipients virtually this year. Chamber President Scott Robinson is streaming interviews with the winners to stream on the chamber’s Facebook page.

The large business of the year is Trinity Health System: Twin City Medical Center. Robinson said the hospital and its staff have been under tremendous pressure dealing with COVID.

“We felt they were certainly a dedicated group of individuals,” he said.

The small business of the year is Triple “S” Energy, owned by Sandy Carpenter.

“She has been a leader in helping businesses with their energy savings – going green and saving energy,” Robinson said.

The organization of the year is the Dover-New Philadelphia Kiwanis club. Robinson singled out the 100-year-old club’s recent project to build a new playground in Dover.

The Citizen of the Year is Bradley Bielski, the dean and chief administrative office for Kent State Tusc.

“He’s been very involved in a number of different organizations and the campus itself … has been recognized for excellence in academic achievement and they’ve also done a tremendous job working in the community,” Robinson said.

The Hall of Fame award recipient is Steve Schillig, director of the Ohio Small Business Development Center at Kent State Tusc. Robinson says the Hall of Fame award is based on chamber involvement. He says Schillig has been a financial advisor for the chamber and served on its board for 12 years.

“That is read dedication to the Chamber,” Robinson said. “His advice has been valuable as a member of the governing council. He’s also helped many entrepreneurs start their own businesses in the area which has given a significant boost to the local economy.”

  • Hall of Fame recipient Steve Schillig;
  • Citizen of the Year KSU Tusc Dean Bradley Bielski;
  • Large Business of the Year Trinity Health System Twin City Medical Center;
  • Small Business of the Year Triple “S” Energy;
