Charges pending against man accused of stabbing neighbor
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Oct. 28, 2022) – Police say a city man is recovering from stab wounds to his head and neck after his neighbor broke into his apartment and attacked him early this morning.
33-year-old Corey Harshey is in the Tuscarawas County Jail on a hold order from the adult parole authority following the attack at an apartment on First Drive Northeast just before 4 am. Detective Chaz Willet says it appears that Harshey used a rock to shatter and window and get into the victim’s apartment. He had visible injuries when police found him in his home next door a short time later and had him transported to the hospital but refused treatment.
“Unsure how he was injured. I did not see them because his hands were wrapped but I believe he had cuts to both hands.”
A woman in the victim’s apartment called 911 to report the attack. The 44-year-old was life-flighted to a hospital to be treated for his wounds but is expected to recover. Willet was preparing a report for the prosecutor to review this morning.
