Chick-fil-A cuts ribbon in New Phila prior to Thursday opening
NEW PHILADELPHIA – The new Chick-fil-A had a ribbon-cutting celebration on Wednesday morning about 24 hours before it was scheduled to open.
Local owner-operator Brady Rust was emotional as he welcomed a who’s who of Tuscarawas County dignitaries and community leaders to the restaurant on Blue Bell Drive.
“I’m extremely humble to be here,” he said. “First and foremost, I just want to say all glory goes to God. This is a dream come true for me to be here with my family, friends and all you guys.”
Rust shared his story – from front counter worker in Derby, Kansas, to the leadership development program to owner-operator. He says he and his family have been welcomed to New Philadelphia and Tuscarawas County.
“There’s something special about this community. There’s something special about the people. There’s something special about the whole county,” he said.
Rust says the restaurant employs more than 120 people.
To celebrate the restaurant’s opening, Chick-fil-A donated $25,000 dollars to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.
