Clay Township house fire under investigation

GNADENHUTTEN (WJER) (July 1, 2025) – Arrowhead Joint Fire District’s chief says the cause of a fire that destroyed a small house early Monday remains undetermined and under investigation.
There were no injuries.
Chief Steven Wright says a neighbor reported the fire in the 6800 block of Kinsey Valley Rd SW in Clay Township at about 1:30 a.m. after being awakened by a power outage and noticing a bright orange glow outside.
Wright says it took firefighters about 15 minutes to bring the fire under control. Firefighters then remained on scene for approximately two hours to extinguish hot spots.
Wright says nobody had been living in the home for several months as the owner was in the process of moving belongings out.
He says nearby security camera video shows multiple vehicles driving past around the time the fire apparently started.
Anyone with information should contact the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office or the State Fire Marshal.
