NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Nov. 25, 2025) – The Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office has solved the mystery of a Bobcat track loader stolen from the county engineer’s office along a snowy worksite four years ago.

Detective Sergeant Joseph Jones says someone in Wooster contacted the sheriff’s office last week about having a part from the track loader in their shop for repairs. The part’s serial number was reported stolen.

Jones says from there, he was able to track down the Bobcat itself to a business in Beach City where it was being worked on. He’s unsure, however, if the person who had the Bobcat realized it was stolen.

Jones says he is now working with the Stark County Sheriff’s Office and plans to speak to a couple of suspects this week.  Jones estimates the Bobcat to be worth about $45,000, so possible charges could include receiving stolen property and grand theft.
