DENNISON (WJER) (Nov. 22, 2023) – Village officials are inviting everyone to take a festive drive or stroll through the downtown this weekend.

Council member Vikki O’Hara says the businesses there are all decked out for the holiday season, which begins Sunday evening from 5:30 to 7 with the third annual Light Up Dennison Downtown Cruise.

“This is just a kickoff to the holidays and just getting families together to enjoy some festive lights.”

The cruise starts on First Street by the CVS pharmacy where participating vehicles will receive a map of the route.

“And if you want to get around and walk around, there’s the First National Bank parking lot. You’ve got, of course, the street parking that’s there as well and then down on Center Street close to the railroad tracks, there’s also additional parking.”

Visitors can also enjoy the downtown lights and decorations aboard one of two trackless trains, visit Santa at the fire station, and skate on the new outdoor ice rink next to the gazebo, which will be open until 8 o’clock that evening.

“We’ll have face-painting at the Knights of Columbus. This year, we’re gonna have the Trumpet in the Land carolers that are gonna be strolling around the area, and then St. Mary’s that’s going to have their children’s choir singing with their live nativity, so yeah, we’ve got a lot of little different things going on.”

Regular rates apply for skating but there’s no cost for the cruise, train rides, and other activities.
