Dover Council meets Monday as mayor’s apparent suspension looms

| May 2, 2022

Dover Mayor Rick Homrighausen, left, and Law Director Doug O'Meara at a Council meeting last year.

DOVER (WJER) (May 2, 2022) – Richard Hormighausen is technically still the acting mayor of Dover. Last week he announced he is being suspended by the state. However, the Ohio Supreme Court later reported it hadn’t made a determination on the issue. That apparently hasn’t changed.

Homrighausen is facing a September jury trial in a criminal grand jury indictment accusing him of 15 counts, including felony theft in office.

He has not attended a City Council meeting since he was indicted in March.

Councilman Bob Mueller at the last meeting said residents want to see the mayor there.

Council President Shane Gunnoe said he would send Homrighausen a request to appear at a meeting.

“I doubt it’ll go anywhere,” Gunnoe said.

Dover City Council meets Monday evening, starting with committee meetings at 6:45.
