Dover summer construction outlook

| May 14, 2026

DOVER – The city’s summer projects include paving on the south side and planning for a few bigger projects next year.

Service Director Dave Douglas says the orange cones that are downtown right now are for an Enbridge Gas project to replace lines that are nearly 70 years old or older. That will likely continue into the summer.

Meanwhile, officials expect to spend nearly $1 million dollars later this summer on paving mainly on the south side. If there’s enough money, the city will target North Wooster Avenue and East Slingluff.

Douglas says engineering will start on a few multimillion-dollar, mainly grant-funded projects, including sidewalks along West Third Street, Towpath Trail work and stormwater management projects on the north end. The actual work will likely start next year.

Park projects this year include the recent paving of the paths at the riverfront park and the addition of a splash pad at the city pool later this summer.

Dover’s new city hall is expected to open in the coming weeks in the former First Federal Bank building on North Wooster Avenue.
