DOVER (WJER) (January 27, 2022) – The Dover High swim teams made sure their names were written first in the latest chapter in the Dover-New Philadelphia rivalry Wednesday.

The Tornadoes beat the Quakers on the boys’ and girls’ sides, winning 21 of 22 events. It was the first time the teams squared off one-on-one at the Tuscarawas County YMCA, the home pool for both teams.

Dover Coach Matt Petricola says the pool was so packed with fans that they needed to bring in another set of bleachers to hold them all.

The girls’ score was 128 -41, with Dover winning every event. Holly Perkowski, Reagan Durbin and Elizabeth Lane each won two solo events. Casey Connare and Olivia Noretto won one each.

The boys’ score was 126-35. For Dover, Lucas Lane and Cameron Marshall each won two solo events. Blaze Burris, Cayden Fix and Richard Tolloti won one event each.

Steven Simpson got the lone victory for New Philadelphia in the 100-yard butterfly.

Dover swept all the relay races.
