2nd Annual Sustainable Living Faire
The event
The Tuscarawas County Public Library System will hold its 2nd Annual Sustainable Living Faire on February 22nd from 10:00 AM-3:00 PM at its Main Library at 121 Fair Ave NW in New Philadelphia. Guests can expect to meet local vendors and organizations as they explore homesteading, traditional skills, and renewable resources.
The county Library has partnered with local businesses, area organizations, and community members who embrace all levels of sustainable living to create this free afternoon event.
Ramsell said the Saturday event will focus on demonstrations and hands-on activities from places including Rural Action, Angel Family Farms, Healer’s Mark, Terra Depot, Brigadoon Homestead, and more.
Learn how gardening will help you avoid ultra-processed food from Dr. Randi Pokladnik. Foxfield Preserve will discuss the basics of green/natural burial. Hand Hewn Farms will demonstrate how to cure meat at home for preservation and flavor.
Certified master herbalist Julia Brown owner of A Simpler Thyme will discuss simple herbal medicines. Wyscarver Farms Apiary will be available to discuss backyard beekeeping. Working Gardens will showcase how to germinate and grow Pawpaws and the Pindrop Shop will demonstrate spinning yarn from fiber.
“These are just a few of the exhibits that are sure to inspire innovation and challenge us to learn something new,” said Support Services Manager Cara Randall. “Throughout the faire, attendees can partake in over 25 classes or demonstrations with local vendors and organizations.”
