The event

This fall, academic assistance is available for all ages at the Main Library of the Tuscarawas County Public Library System from English Second Language classes for adults to tutoring services for kindergarten through 5th grade children.
“Adult learners can improve their English language skills through interactive lessons in a relaxed environment.,” said Adult and Teen Services Manager Robyn Guedel. “Adults interested in learning English language basics are invited to attend this weekly program on select Tuesdays and Thursdays starting September 10th at 5:30 PM.
Attendees will work with an encouraging and supportive tutor while learning basic reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.
In addition to ESL classes, students in kindergarten through 5th grade can meet weekly with certified literacy tutor Lana Schrock, PhD starting Wednesday, September 11th from 4:30-7:30 PM.
“Students can work on reading comprehension and literacy skills during their appointments with priority given to ESL students,” said Children’s Services Manager Mary Smrek. “Lana will assist students during 30-minute sessions sponsored by the Friends of the Library – New Philadelphia.”
While ESL classes and tutoring appointments are free, space is limited and registration is required for each. To register for ESL classes or to sign up for a tutoring appointment, visit the library’s online event calendar at tuslibrary.org or call 330-364-4474.
The County’s Main Library is located at 121 Fair Ave. NW in New Philadelphia.
