The event

Bestselling author Linda Castillo will speak about The Burning, the latest book in the Kate Burkholder series. The program will be held at the Dover Public Library, located at 525 N. Walnut 6:30 PM on Saturday, July 13. A book signing will follow the program.

In this book, newlywed Chief of Police Kate Burkholder is awakened by an urgent midnight call, summoning her to a suspicious fire in the woods. When she arrives on scene, she discovers a charred body. The deceased, an Amish man, was chained to a stake and burned alive. Kate, finding no one who is willing to talk about the murder, is able to piece together that Swanz led a troubled life and had been excommunicated. When her own brother is implicated in the case, Kate finds herself at odds with the Amish and with her counterparts in law enforcement. The investigation takes a violent turn when Kate’s life is threatened. When Kate delves into the dark corners of Anabaptist history, she uncovers a secret legacy that shatters everything she thought she knew about the Amish and her own roots.

Linda Castillo is the author of the New York Times and USA bestselling Kate Burkholder mystery series, set in the world of the Amish. Castillo is the recipient of numerous industry awards. In May, Castillo added to her list of accomplishments. Her novel An Evil Heart won the G.P. Putnam Son’s Sue Grafton Memorial Award for Best Novel and her short story Hallowed Ground won the Edgar for Best Short Story. In addition to writing, Castillo’s other passion is horses. She lives on a ranch in Texas with her husband, three Appaloosas, and two feisty but loveable Blue Heelers.   This program will be held on Saturday, July 13 at 6:30 PM at the library, located at 525 N.
