County Library Hosts Memory Cafés And Offers Memory Kits
The event
Individuals living with memory loss and their caregivers are invited to socialize and have fun with others experiencing similar circumstances during Memory Café programs at the Main Library of the Tuscarawas County Public Library System.
Attendees will have the opportunity to listen to speakers, participate in activities, and build relationships during these monthly interactive programs which meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 10:00 AM.
Program topics for this fall include:
- February 17th: Design valentines and hearts while Sabrina (1954) plays in the background.
- March 17th: Enjoy making shamrock crafts and learning about the history of Saint Patrick’s Day.
- April 21st: Color Easter eggs and enjoy the movie classic Harvey (1950) starring Jimmy Stewart.
- May 19th: Write letters to soldiers and enjoy the classic movie Since You Went Away (1944).
In addition to the Memory Café programs, the County Library has memory kits to check out and enjoy at home. Memory Kits are bundles of library materials, containing books, puzzles, movies, music, smelling jars, and other sensory activities centered around a theme. The library currently has twelve memory kits. Memory kit topics include fishing, sewing, travel, birds, pets, trains, sports, gardening, classic cars, classic Hollywood, school days, and baking.
