The event
In coordination with Geib Funeral Homes, Dover Public Library presents a 4-part series titled “Your Story – Well Told”. The four sessions will be held every Monday in October at 6:30 PM and will focus on end-of-life planning for yourself and your loved ones. This free informative series will offer insights from local experts on legal, funeral, cemetery, veterans, and local outreach-related end-of-life matters.
On October 6, Alleshouse will be joined by Anne Geib Dorris, 5th generation owner and current President and Managing Director of Geib Funeral Home and Crematory. Using their combined experience, they have been able to help individuals and families make informed decisions with compassion and education. They will talk about creating meaningful and appropriate celebrations for families in our community.
On October 13, Attorney James F. Contini will share his expertise as a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trusts and Probate Law with Krugliak, Wilkins, Griffiths & Dougherty. During this program, he will give a general overview of estate planning and charitable planning, including an explanation of wills and trusts. He will also touch on how to avoid probate without a living trust. Please note that the library is not open to the public on Monday, October 13, but the doors to the community room will open at 6:00 to welcome participants to this seminar.
The third session will be held on October 20 and will feature two speakers: Scott Harmon, City of Dover Cemeteries superintendent, and Murphy Wilson, memorialist and sales manager for Dover Memorials. Harmon will discuss burial trends over the past 20 years and how cemeteries have changed to accommodate and provide new interment options for local residents. Willson will share how he works with families to design a memorial that truly captures the spirit of their loved one.
During the final seminar on October 27, representatives from two local agencies will speak. Jamie Grunder and Michelle Shook will speak about services provided by Tuscarawas County Job and Family Services and Debbie Cook will speak on behalf of the Tuscarawas County Veteran Service Office.
Grunder and Shook will provide an overview of eligibility for long-term care services, including nursing facility care and waiver services. Information about adult protective services will also be presented. Grunder, with 25 years of service at TCJFS is the current supervisor of Adult Protective Services and Children Services. Shook has served the county for 20 years and is the supervisor over Long Term Care and the Child Care Unit.
Cook, an Army veteran herself and director and CVSO of the Tuscarawas County Veteran Service Office, will explain the benefits that veterans and dependents may qualify for. She will elaborate on how to file for those benefits and how she and other personnel at the office can assist with that process.
These programs will be held on four consecutive Monday evenings during the month of October and will begin at 6:30 PM in the Community Room at the library, located at 525 N. Walnut Street, Dover. Register online at www.doverlibrary.org/events or call the library at 330-343-6123.
